Steve Goldbloom, intrepid and irreverent technology reporter for PBS’s Everything But the News, is looking for love. He’s been out on the dating scene with little success. When did dating get so complicated!!?? Steve is also a technology fanatic. Always on the hunt for the latest gadget, or useful software.
So that’s why we at Hillside Media Productions Inc. are proposing Flirt! with Steve Goldbloom. Flirt! is a new dating show that takes Steve’s passion for dating mixes it with his passion for technology and turns it into a results driven machine. Using the latest technologies in surprising and hilarious ways Steve helps needy singles find potential dates... and he’s going all across America to do just that.
Every episode of Flirt! finds Steve at an extraordinary event; think Coachella, Comic Con, Burning Man, Frosh Week at Arizona State, a baseball game at Yankee Stadium or even more single-skewed (nerd heavy) events: Rush Con (how many Rush fans have significant others?), Scrapbook Expo, The Westminster Dog Show, you name it! Anywhere there are lonely and lusty singles you will find Steve.
In each episode Steve uses his great people skills to work the crowds eventually zeroing in on a subject that wants and needs his help finding a love match. He will then use a pseudo scientific process or tech inspired gadgetry to narrow down the field to three prospective matches. Steve, like Tinder, believes in proximity, and like eHarmony, he feels that shared interests are key. There is no avoiding looks when it comes to love, so like Zoosk, he’ll use facial recognition to spot the match. He may wire up would-be studs on a polygraph machine while conducting an extremely rigorous round of questions. He may commandeer the Jumbotron at the stadium in order to reach the largest number of would be hotties for his lonelyboy. That means everyone at the event is halfway to love just by being there. All they need is a well-intentioned shove towards the right person and Steve is very pushy.
When three prospective dates are found it is time for the feats of strength. All Bachelors and Bachelorettes are put to on-the-spot tests for suitability and desirability as their possible love match looks on. At Medieval Fairs suitors may be called upon to sword fight or spin hay into gold. At Comic Con, Steve will test Cos players to ride unicorns while answering nerdy trivia.
At a barn raising Steve will conduct hammer-handling showdowns, at sporting events ladies may have to score on a net to gain access to the locker room, where their loved one waits in the showers.
The judges! The winning single is chosen by Steve and a variety of fun unconventional judges. Whether it’s one of Steve celebrity friends or a local relationship therapist, whether it’s a very invested cookie monster or Steve’s mom... SOMEONE picks a lucky finalist for our ever so relieved single.
Then the date! Steve ramps up the stunts, to ramp up the commitment. Research shows that people often fall in love after being placed in a frightening situation together. Steve wants to ensure success so he may dangle couples from bridges, or have them ride on the top of moving trains...Research shows that couples that care for children have a great bond so Steve put his lovers in charge of the ballroom at the local IKEA, Couples that speak openly about sex learn to satisfy each other so Steve gets his first daters to recite the script of porn films.... its whatever needs to happen to create beautiful and lasting love.
Steve is open to it all! He is an old fashioned Matchmaker with the modern world of dating at his fingertips. There has never before been such a great opportunity to Flirt! with Steve Goldbloom.
